Nearly a week after Hurricane/Tropical Strom Helene swept through Western North Carolina, Columbia Forest Products seeks to support their employee-owners in the region who are struggling with the effects – from the destruction of their homes and property to the lack of power, water and cell service.

While the company is in the early stages of gaining information about their team members – which is our immediate focus – we are organizing food and water deliveries out of Greensboro.

Columbia Forest Product's Old Fort mill is currently down due to power outages in the area. First reports indicate some damage due to flood waters. The next few days should reveal a lot more information about their people and the facility.

In the meantime, CFP encourages friends, vendors, customers and associates who would like to help to send tax-deductible donations in the form of a check to:

Other Ways to Help

The CFP Foundation may not be able to serve as broad a need as is necessary, given the extensive and widespread damage to the area, says Michele Ford, who runs the Foundation. She suggested a few other local organizations who’ve got boots on the ground to support the overall region:

The Gateway Wellness Foundation

The Dogwood Health Trust

God’s Pit Crew, Disaster Response Services
