Trend report for autumn fairs and IFA 2017
Surfaces, architecture, functions
Leading kitchen manufacturers presented the new kitchen trends in September 2017. Almost at the same time, innovations and trends from the world of electrical appliances made their big entrance at IFA in Berlin, Germany. Hettich has put together the latest releases from both leading trade shows in the "Living Space Kitchen" trend report.
A trend is emerging among surfaces that couldn't be further removed from the gloss white finishes which have long prevailed: black. In future, kitchen furniture and electrical appliances will be adorning themselves with classy black surfaces. And increasingly, furniture interiors are also taking on a dark look. Merely the refrigerator is moving into the focus with bright accent colours. Consumers themselves now even have a say in creating its surface design.
The open-plan live-in kitchen is a communication hub and central meeting place. The design of kitchen furniture reflects the way in which the various parts of the home are merging: deeper fronts look homely.
Multifunctionality and smart movement cycles are becoming more and more important in the kitchen too. Because they make everyday routine easier and kitchen design all the more varied. Sliding doors in various options are practical and add a dynamic element to the kitchen front. Height adjustable elements are kind on the back and demonstrate how ergonomic and easily accessible storage space can be.
