It comes around every two years: interzum, the world's biggest event for the furniture and interior construction industries, taking place in Cologne from 16 to 19 May 2017, offers a comprehensive overview of new technologies and designs. The leading fair for suppliers to the furniture industry is a source of inspiration for product developers, designers and architects. One of the event's highlights is the presentation of the prestigious interzum awards, which, in 2015, attracted around 270 entries from 21 countries. Exhibitors at interzum 2017 can apply for the competition from now until 3 March.
This year, the "interzum award: intelligent material & design 2017" will again be conferred by Koelnmesse in cooperation with "Red Dot" and recognises the best designs from the furniture and interior construction industries' supplying sections. For what is now the ninth time, exhibitors can submit their innovative ideas to be singled out by a five-strong jury of renowned experts. The deadline for applications is 3 March 2017. After the judging process, the most highly acclaimed in the contest, rated "Best of the Best", will be displayed in a walk-in cuboid on the trade fair boulevard. In addition, the winning designs can be found in the online exhibition at interzum-award.de.
At interzum the winners have the opportunity to impress international decision makers, opinion formers and disseminators with the outstanding quality of their products, forge new contacts and deepen existing ones. Another advantage for the winners of the interzum award: intelligent material & design is that the selected products can be branded with the unique and internationally recognised industry label – so setting themselves apart from the competition in a global market.
Networking starts early, even before the start of the trade fair: true to Koelnmesse's claim to "Global Competence", more than 500 manufacturers, designers and marketing decision makers from the leading international players in the industry are expected to attend the interzum award 2017 prize-giving ceremony on the Rheinterrassen (Rhine Terraces) on the evening of 15 May in Cologne. The prize-giving is also the glittering opening event of interzum 2017.
Participation in the contest is very simple for all exhibitors at interzum 2017: from 9 January until 3 March, product innovations can be entered free-of-charge. The jury is looking for innovative design ideas and new developments for the furniture and interior construction industries, stretching from modern materials and surfaces through fittings, glass and lighting to upholstered furniture manufacturing and bedding. Further information is available on the recently launched website www.interzum-award.de.
