Prominent new member in the Pulp, Paper & Bioproducts division
FPInnovations is pleased to welcome a new and important member, which just joined the organization a few weeks ago: Fortress Paper recently confirmed its membership in FPInnovations' Pulp, Paper & Bioproducts Division. Fortress is an international company producing specialty pulp—and dissolving pulp, in particular. This company—which began its operations in May 2006—now employs over 300 employees.
FPInnovations' Pulp, Paper & Bioproducts Program banks on innovation and maximum exploitation of the characteristics of Canadian wood fibre. Through its various research programs, the organization aims to offer its members ways and means of cutting production costs, increasing their productivity and accessing existing or emerging markets. In becoming a member of FPInnovations, Fortress's goals include the achievement of very specific environmental objectives. In addition, Fortress is banking on FPInnovations' expertise to optimize certain business practices and benefit from the organization's innovative research findings. In this regard, it can already count on the collaboration of dedicated liaison officers.
Fortress's arrival as a member in the organization is also noticeable on FPInnovations' Board of Directors, as Yvon Pelletier, Fortress's President and Chief Executive Officer, was appointed a Board member at the last annual general meeting held in June. Mr. Pelletier has over 30 years of experience in the pulp and paper industry, Canada-wide, having held key technical, operational and commercial management positions. |
