Timber Products to Begin Emissions Labeling Ahead of Federal Requirement

Springfield, Ore. – Timber Products Company is ahead of schedule to meet the new federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA) Title VI standard, following a strong track record of responsible manufacturing processes.

“We’re very proud our team is ahead of the requirements,” said Steve Killgore, CEO. “Building off of our current compliance with California Air Resource Board (CARB) regulations, Timber Products is ahead of schedule to meet these new industry regulations.”

TSCA Title VI formaldehyde standards applies to medium density fiberboard (MDF), particle board and hardwood plywood products manufactured in, imported into, or sold in the United States. As a producer of hardwood plywood and other composite wood products, Timber Products is subject to TSCA Title VI compliance.

Timber Products’ documented history of compliance with comparable environmental regulations will make it a simple task to meet this new environmental standard. Timber Products is already compliant with CARB, a California state rule reducing exposure to formaldehyde emissions from wood products produced domestically or imported for use in California.

“Timber Products works extremely hard to provide the highest quality products while meeting industry environmental and health standards,” said Killgore.

Timber Products will label all of its products by April 16, 2018, ahead of the compliance date of June 1, 2018, set by the EPA.
