Orion® Pinless Wood Moisture Meter with Exclusive Field Calibration Capability Wins AWFS 2019 “Visionary Award”

Rogue River, OR (July 2019) – The new Orion® 950 Smart Pinless Wood Moisture Meter from Wagner Meters was awarded the “Visionary Award” in the “Hardware” category at the 2019 AWFS® Fair in Las Vegas. Orion moisture meters feature the industry-exclusive capability to truly calibrate the moisture meter anywhere within 30 seconds. The Orion 950, part of Wagner Meters full line of Orion pinless wood moisture meters, comes with an On-Demand Calibrator that accomplishes true calibration from an external calibration standard not offered with any other pin or pinless wood moisture meter but Wagner’s Orion line of moisture meters.

We are very pleased but not surprised,” said Ron Smith, Wagner Meters Sales Manager. “True in-the-field calibration is a revolutionary capability that sets the Orion meters above the rest. Other pinless wood moisture meters may feature a “calibration reference,” but you still have to send the unit to the factory for real calibration and risk losing time and money,” he added. “The exclusive Orion true calibration capability means you have a calibrated accurate pinless wood moisture meter in your hand for the life of the meter. We (Wagner Meters) also offer a NIST-traceable On-Demand Calibrator for companies aligning with ISO standards of excellence.”

Apart from the true calibration capability as provided with the rest of the Orion line, the award-winning Orion 950 Smart Pinless Wood Moisture Meter also has a wide variety of features including dual depth measurement, temperature/relative humidity sensor, equilibrium moisture content (EMC) calculation, and Bluetooth® connection to smart device apps.

Every other year, the AWFS Visionary New Product Awards recognize creativity and innovation as well as leadership in green/environmental product development. Entries are evaluated on quality, production impact, practicality, innovation and user-friendliness. The awards are presented at the AWFS Fair.
