LIGNA 2023 Exceeds Hymmen’s Expections

Numerous visitors were attracted by “Future-shaping technologies for your surfaces and wood products” – the motto of this year’s Hymmen booth at LIGNA in Hanover –and could see the latest innovations as well as the established technologies of the machinery and plant engineering company from Bielefeld.

All interested parties were amazed by the surface samples that Hymmen presented from its patented Digital Lacquer Embossing technology (DLEplus): you could hardly distinguish them from real wood. At least as much attention was paid to the sophisticated press coating and handling technology that Hymmen now intends to use increasingly in the production of engineered wood such as CLT. All flanked by Hymmen’s cloud-based smart2i Industry Intelligence solution, which monitors process data across manufacturers and machines and is used for production optimization via individual analysis tools.

Hymmen counted a total of over 300 qualified contacts from 40 countries worldwide, more than half of which will result in a project offer in the short or medium term, after the trade show.

The result of Ligna 2023 thus far exceeded the management’s expectations. “Even though we had just as many leads overall as four years ago, the interest of our visitors already seemed to be much more concrete than at the trade fair before the Corona break,” says Dr. René Pankoke, managing partner and CEO of Hymmen in summarizing his impression of the trade fair week.

There was always a positive and future-orientated atmosphere at the company’s booth with its open und friendly design. Following the momentum of the first day of the trade show, the booth team already could celebrate a new project agreement on the second day of the event involving a laminating line with peripherals that will be used in the Northern European furniture supply industry.

As usual from previous events, there were fewer trade visitors from the industrial context on Thursday and Friday. This enabled in-depth project discussions with individual customers and encouraged networking with other exhibitors in the industry.

Overall, for Hymmen the newly awakened world’s leading trade fair for the wood-based materials supply industry was a successful show. “The trade fair is an opportunity for technology-focused personal exchange with the other market participants –be it project-related or more visionary in nature. And finally, in terms of cultivating relationships, LIGNA is an indispensable part of our industry’s range of events,” Pankoke concludes.
