3 Decors from Schattdecor to Fit Flooring Trends for 2019

As winter continues to linger for a while longer, we thought we'd take a look at the highlights and trends that also appear to be sticking around from a couple winter flooring shows we visited at the start of 2019, Surfaces and Domotex. While new technologies seemed to be a clear focus at both of these shows, our designers were able to discern a few key trends for the flooring market.

Flooring colors continue moving steadily in a grey direction. This could be by way of applying a smokey effect to traditionally blonde woodgrains or showcasing popular worn and arid surfaces by mimicking concrete or plaster. Striking visuals and strong character were predominate at the fairs this year. Prominent features included heavy white poring, scorched or fumed woods, and heavy saw markings. Below are several decors from Schattdecor that fit the bill if you are looking to capitalize on these current trends.

Canyon Black Oak is an elevated iteration of the traditional espresso color, but incorporates a unique contrasting white pore. It mixes both rustic and refined elements, while having a color play that isn't too intense. It's just enough to draw you in.

Blonde tones are still veering towards grey. For example, very clean Scandinavian blonde woodgrains, like Canyon Nostalgic Oak, will now feature a subtle smokey hue. But then on the other hand, this "greying" could be taken to the extreme of a heavily fumed wood look. Accents that compliment these grey-blonde woodgrains are a white pore that bring a calmness to the decor and offsets the rustic nature of the saw marks.

One trend that is making waves both in furniture and also in flooring are worn and arid surfaces. Dry, cracked looks in matte surfaces with tonal color variations are becoming popular as they mimic concrete, plaster, and slate. Stromboli is a decor that gives an industrial look but is still really clean and soft.
