Interprint USA Invests $10M in Film Printing Press
PITTSFIELD, Mass., January 11, 2018) Interprint USA today announced the purchase of an $10 million printing press to support its rapidly growing décor film business.
Developed in partnership with Faustel, Inc. of Germantown, Wisconsin, the rotogravure printing press will expand Interprint’s capacity to produce plastic film-based decorative overlays used in the manufacturing of flooring, furniture and other consumer products. The press will be installed at Interprint’s Pittsfield, Massachusetts facility during 2018, with commissioning expected in mid-2019. The company currently operates five presses designed to print décor paper for the laminate industry, two of which have been modified to also print on film substrates.
“Adding a press designed from the ground up specifically to print films will significantly increase our capacity, improve efficiencies and increase run speeds to support growing customer demand,” said Interprint Co-Managing Director Roland Morin. “We are grateful that our Board of Directors shares our vision to adapt technologies proven in other printing applications in the design of a press that will be unique in our industry,” he added. The press will include improved film drying, print unit and registration technologies.
Also at its Pittsfield facility, Interprint broke ground in November for a single-story office building. The addition, expected to be ready for occupancy in April, will be home to the company’s purchasing, accounting, human resources, safety and research & development teams. “The expansion of our business and company has left us with limited options to accommodate our staff and visiting customers,” said Co-Managing Director Bill Hines, Jr. “This additional space will support our anticipated growth years into the future,” he added.
