Fast Company recently announced FreePower as the recipient of their ultra-prestigious Next Big Things in Tech Award in the consumer technology category for 2024, alongside some of the world's largest companies including Samsung and Lenovo. This award recognizes breakthrough innovations that are poised to transform everyday spaces, gadgets, wellness, and more.

“The dream for wireless charging has always involved building it into ordinary surfaces. But it’s typically required unsightly stickers or indentations to show where your phone should go,” reads a statement from Fast Company. “FreePower has come up with a more elegant solution, using an LED halo to light up the charging area when you wave your phone over it. The company, which previously went by the name Aira, debuted the technology this year and is now working with designers and fabricators to integrate it with stone and wood countertops.”

From the very beginning, FreePower officials say their driving force has been to evolve society’s relationship with charging, creating a world where wireless power is elegant, effortless, and everywhere. Today, FreePower for Countertop can make that dream a reality by allowing designers, builders, and consumers to easily embed wireless charging into residential and commercial surfaces.

This year saw its fair share of awards and accolades for FreePower’s surface charging innovations, including Kitchen Product of the Year and Best in Show at KBIS, but the Fast Company honor rings particularly meaningful: in 2021, under FreePower’s previous name Aira, Fast Company named them one of the World’s Most Innovative Companies following the release of first-generation FreePower.

At the time, Aira was recognized as the 5th most innovative company in consumer electronics. The continuous evolution of their innovative tech led to FreePower for Countertop — marking a full-circle moment with our Next Big Things in Tech designation.

FreePower is now available in over 200 showrooms and fabrication shops across the US. Visit www.freepower.io for more information.
