LEXINGTON, NC – October 1, 2017 – BMK Americas LLC, a subsidiary of DKB Décor Inc., announced that
it has acquired a melamine film manufacturing facility from Shaw Industries. The purchase of the plant
located at 144 Welcome Center Ct, Lexington, NC will better serve the needs of North American
customers in the thermally fused laminate industry.
The asset purchase of the melamine treatment facility fits into DKB’s strategy to gain new market share
by having the ability to produce specialty decorative papers within a short lead time. By purchasing the
plant, BMK Americas LLC will provide these services and products in addition to its existing business in
North America.
Providing a range of complementary and extended services, the new U.S. based business supports continued
Europe growth plans and accelerates entry into new and adjacent markets. “Our acquisition of this plant
complements our overall offering so we can now provide multiple products and services to the laminate
industry. This investment represents an important strategic opportunity to offer new product options
and technology,” said Moritz Menier, President of DKB Décor Inc. “The acquisition also adds to our
capacity and geographic presence to treat and manage the lead times of customers”.
The manufacturing facility was previously a sole provider for treated material to Shaw’s laminate
flooring facility in Georgia. As part of the acquisition, Shaw associates working at the facility (formally
known as Plant LP) will be given the opportunity to continue working at the facility as employees of BMK
Americas LLC. “We are extremely pleased to secure the employment of the highly trained personnel”,
said Moritz Menier.
