Cabinet Sales Up 1.8% in November
Cabinetry sales for the month of November increased 1.8 percent compared to the same month in 2016, reported participating members of the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA) in its monthly Trend of Business Survey. The gain was led by a boost in semi-custom cabinet sales, which grew 3.7 percent in November, compared to the same period last year. Custom sales increased 2.2 percent and stock sales were up 0.1 percent, compared to November 2016.
Year-to-date (YTD) total cabinetry sales were up 2.8 percent through November 2017. Stock cabinet sales increased 3 percent YTD, semi-custom sales up 3.5 percent, and custom sales dipped slightly at 0.4 percent, compared to sales through November 2016.
Survey participants include stock, semi-custom, and custom companies whose combined sales represent approximately 70 percent of the U.S. kitchen cabinet and bath vanity market. KCMA is the major trade association for kitchen cabinet and bath vanity manufacturers and key suppliers of goods and services to the industry. All major U.S. cabinet manufacturing companies belong to KCMA. Sixty-three percent of KCMA cabinet manufacturer members report sales below $10 million annually, reflecting the importance of small manufacturers in the industry. KCMA has been compiling and reporting industry sales data for more than forty years.
