Boise Cascade Celebrates 60 Years
BOISE, Idaho – Boise Cascade Company (Boise Cascade) (NYSE: BCC) announced today that it is planning a celebration of the May 1957 merger of Boise-Payette Lumber Company and Cascade Lumber Company and the creation of the name “Boise Cascade.” This historical milestone will be celebrated with each of Boise Cascade’s over 6,600 employees at nearly 60 locations throughout the United States and Canada.
Boise Cascade’s history is a story of change and resilience. Manufacturing wood products and distributing building materials have been a constant focus, but opportunity and boldness led to exploration of other industries over the years, including paper and packaging, office supplies, and even a short stint as owners of the Princess Cruise Line.
In 2008, the company narrowed its focus back to wood products manufacturing and building materials distribution. With our increased focus, we have become one of the largest producers of engineered wood products and plywood in North America and a leading U.S. wholesale distributor of building products.
“Our company has gone through a lot of changes over the past 60 years,” notes CEO Tom Corrick. “Through it all we have been sustained by our ability to build and maintain strong and lasting relationships
with our employees, customers, suppliers, communities, and owners. Our celebrations over the next year will honor those relationships as we talk about who we are, where we have been, and how excited we are about where we are going.”
