ARAUCO NORTH AMERICA RECEIVES 2017 FOREST STEWARDSHIP COUNCIL® LEADERSHIP AWARD
ATLANTA – November 15, 2017 – Announced at Greenbuild earlier this month, ARAUCO North America is the recipient of a 2017 Forest Stewardship Council® Leadership Award for investing approximately $400 million in a new FSC-certified particleboard mill in Grayling, Mich. – along with its nine other certified mills in North America – to meet growing customer demand, with a goal of 100% FSC-certified or recycled inputs for forest products by 2020.
ARAUCO is among 16 organizations and individuals to earn this year's Leadership Awards from the FSC, the world's leading forest certification system. "We were astounded by the accomplishments of our award winners this year," said Corey Brinkema, president of the Forest Stewardship Council US. "By building the market for FSC products, the award winners show we can conserve forests, even as we use forest products in our daily lives."
