Jean Rowe has been named Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Doug Mockett & Company. It is with great honor we appoint Jean to her new position. Jean has been with the company since nearly the very beginning. A 34 year veteran, starting in 1983, she has been a big part of the company’s growth and continued success.
Coming from the Midwest as a former business manager at an Old-Honda car dealership, she decided she had shoveled snow for the last time and moved to California in 1978. She became the business manager at a Chevrolet dealership in the South Bay, but when that business closed in 1982, she started doing accounting work for small businesses in the area. In 1983, she started stopping by Doug Mockett & Company every couple of weeks to prepare summaries and financial statements. The company at the time had outgrown the garage and moved into the corner of a small warehouse, but inventory and sales were being recorded on yellow note pads.
It was evident that some proper bookkeeping was in order. She moved the records over to floppy disks and then helped usher in the first digital business software for the company. During this time, the company had taken over that small warehouse, then moved into a larger one, then bought and renovated what seemed at the time a monster facility. Some years later, here we are, having added on to the building and purchased another smaller warehouse next door, and Jean has been there every step of the way.
